European Drama Network founded by Simon M Woods and is an UK independent film production company specialising in movies of classic plays and books, distributing them online and in cinema and on TV. 

 

Simon M Woods was CEO of Birmingham School of Acting until 2006, where he started the BRUMMIEWOOD short film project, producing 40 award winning short films, before merging the school with Birmingham City University and leaving to set up European Drama Network. Previously in the 1980'she was the original manager of the reggae band UB40 and set up the hugely successful record label Dep International. After he had stints in education and arts marketing.

 

Based in Warwickshire, England he worked Sardinia, Italy where he produced The Mandrake Root with director Malachi Bogdanov. He recently completed a script Penelope, a retelling of Homer's The Odyssey entirely from the perspective of Odysseus wife, unlike the original, the viewer only knows what she knows. This project developed from an idea to produce a film of The Odyssey in Latin and Ancient Greek which in turn developed from a stage show From Ithaca with Love, which was performed in Millennium Point, Birmingham as part of the New Generation Arts Festival in 2006.
